Passion. Experience. Diligence.

Hi, I’m Mona Jaffe and congratulations on taking your first step towards mastering chemistry!

From the time I took my first chemistry course in high school, I became passionate about the subject and knew I wanted to master it. After graduating from Penn State University with a degree in chemistry, I decided that I really wanted to share my knowledge and love of the subject and went on to get a Masters of Education in science education from Temple University.

I have spent the last 45 years teaching at both the high school and university levels (including at Penn State) and tutoring students as needed. I have taught students learning chemistry for the first time in high school or college as well as those changing careers later in life. This experience has given me the tools and skills needed to adapt my lessons and teaching style to suit each individual student’s needs. There is no one perfect way to teach. The best thing to do is to listen to what the student needs, figure out how they learn best, and work with them every step of the way to achieve their goals.

I have been very successful at presenting technical material to students with varying degrees of chemistry knowledge in simple, easy-to-understand terms.

My greatest pleasure is to see a struggling student finally “get it” or an AP student receive a remarkable score on their exam.

No matter what level of chemistry you are taking - General, Honors, AP or College level I can help you achieve your goals. My motto is “Chem Is Try” and if you are willing to do that, we will achieve success together.
